Andy Cocker - Coolest Guy in the UK?

Hello and thank you for visiting my website, just in case you are wondering and because people have actually asked... I am not completely mad, conceited or big headed, this whole "Coolest Guy in the UK" thing is purely and simply an example of good old 'White Hat' SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

So... Who Really is the Coolest Guy in the UK?

Well, as you might have guessed already, according Google, Yahoo, MSN and roughly 60 other English speaking Search Engines, it just so happens to be me :-) What I have done here is put into practice the very same techniques, and followed the very same rules that I have laid down and teach in my Web Mastery Live SEO tutorials. As you can see I have managed to secure several coveted Top 10 Search Engine positions WITHOUT using any of the heaps of expensive software's available on the market today to help me.

If you are your own webmaster then you can probably achieve reasonable results too, it really only requires a basic knowledge of HTML and SEO to do it, read on for more...

Andy's First Rules of DIY SEO...

BEFORE you do anything else, do your keyword research!

If you try and optimize your website for the wrong keywords then you will most likely not rank anywhere at all...

Avoid highly competitive & generalized keywords E.G. insurance, credit, boats etc. Be MUCH more specific for example, optimize your pages for Key Phrases like Family Health Insurance, Bad Credit Loan or Motor Boat Maintenance etc.

Content is KING!

If you use too many images or flashy bits, search engine robots cant read your site and sometimes even 'time out' waiting for your pages to load...

Keep your Web Pages and content relevant, use good English and plenty of HTML text, avoid fully flash sites or loads of images, they might look very pretty and hi-tech but Search Engines cant read them and if the page takes too long to load the Search Engine Spiders will get bored and move on somewhere else!

Polish Your Halo!

Avoid any less than "White Hat" methods for achieving a better ranking...

Black Hat methods will generally only last for very short periods of time, if you run the gauntlet with the search engines you will most likely come off worse. It is quite normal for whole websites, domain names and even entire IP address to be banned from major search engines for trying to pull the wool...

It really is NOT Rocket Science

You simply need to be sensible and stay on the right side of the law as far as major search engine algorithms go, and basically just do things properly. Remember if someone tells you (or sells you) a short cut using magic software or secret tricks and that it lasts forever, they are most definitely lying! Most likely the truth will be that it did work once ( probably a long time ago, always check the dates on any screen shots) and it no longer does, so its time for them to make as much money from it as they can by selling it before anyone realizes its a big con!

I hope this helps,

Kind Regards,

Andy Cocker
